HOW TO NAIL PINTEREST.

A few weeks back I headed to a wonderful workshop at the Hoxton Holborn called ‘How to Nail Pinterest’ … Eh yes please! The workshop was taken by the wonderful Zoe of Craft candy.
Before we begin, by no means am I a Pinterest expert (Check me out here), but it's definitely something I want to get better at. So I thought I would gather my takeaways from the talk and share them with you lot and you can let me know if this is something you'd like more of.

“Pinterest is not social media but a discovery site.”

40% should be inspiration.
40% informative .
20% about your brand.

1. WHEN TO PIN
I’ve never had a schedule myself when it comes to pinning, I can go days without it and then hit it all at once. This is something I really want to get better at and although I don't think I would take this step just yet, Buffer lets you schedule pins - really helping to give you more of a schedule.
Zoe suggested understanding when your readers are online, age and location. This should help you define the best time for people to see your pins.
Pinning consistently throughout a day is going to reach more people than sporadically (like I do, oopsy)

2. WHAT TO PIN

Inspirational words are huge on Pinterest and one of the biggest/most popular boards.

Most popular searches:
Food and drink
DIY and Craft
Home decor
Fitness
Top 10s / How to’s
Travel boards

Other ideas:
How to’s with all the images in one image the start to finish.
Info graphics
City guides.

Pinterest Tips

2. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BEST DESCRIPTIONS.
Correct descriptions > the more the better.

Something I didn't know was that Google searches your account description, board names and board descriptions. So time to tidy those up to make them more search friendly.

Keep board names simple and how people would search key phrases. Eg Alexa Chung style.
Board descriptions - word everything that may be searchable towards this, helping with SEO.
EG. Fashion, Alexa chungs wardrobe, dungarees, denim, peterpan collars etc etc

Toshiba x Pinterest

4. THE PINS
Why not covert your account to business - verify your account and this will allow you to look at your analytics. Curate your account. Your voice and branding.

DONT delete a pin.
DO cross pin/pin the same thing more than once because one user doesn't follow all your boards.

Something I've never used but worth looking into Rich Pins. All the information sticks wherever the pin goes. Perfect for keeping up to date with with any changes when pinning from a store. Eg changes in price.

I would definitely recommend getting the Pin It button on your site, encouraging your readers to pin.

Somedays Lovin Culotte Jumpsuit in Yazuku Print
Jumpsuit - ASOS. Shoes - Next. Bag - Radley. Bracelet - Monica Vinedar

As I’ve been editing these photos it’s taken me right back to sand between my toes and hot sun on my skin. Holiday blues have well and truly set in after a very busy few days filled with weddings and a lot of work.
A few weeks a go I purchased this amazing Somedays Lovin jumpsuit, you may recognise the print from a certain shirt I also have. Oopsy. I love it so much and have already worn it enough times to make the average rate per wear, low… I honestly can talk myself into any purchase.
It was perfect for floating about warm holiday evenings, worn with my Next shoes and accessorised with this perfect little bag from Radley and bracelet by Monica Vinader.

One holiday over and the next in planning. Barcelona here we come. As always if you have any recommendations, please share in the comments. :)

Hope you're all having a wonderful week x

VICTORIA.

Topshop Denim Jumpsuit

Wimbeldon

The last time I made a visit to Victoria was to see Wicked; What a brilliant show it was might I add but it wasn’t until recently that I realised there was a lot more to Victoria than simply amazing theatres.
Away from the hustle and bustle from the likes of Oxford Street and Covent Garden. Victoria has its very own shopping centre full of high street fashion and plenty of places to grab a bite to eat. I was in need of a new summer wardrobe so challenged myself to grab a whole summer outfit whilst in Victoria.
With a wardrobe full of denim/jumpsuits/culottes I promised myself combining all of the above would be the last hooray buying this denim culotte jumpsuit from Topshop.

Of course my shoe of choice, Clarks. I’m also debating going back and picking up these too. Finishing it all off with this backpack from Zara.

Where are your favorite places to shop in London? I love finding hidden gems like Victoria.

Playsuit, Jacket & shoes - ASOS
70’s inspired clothing hit the high street in a big way this year and as much as I’m a little bit obsessed, I’ve found it hard to bring into my own wardrobe. Pining for a pair of 70’s flares that I didn’t feel silly in. I guess I will just stick with A-line denim skirts & fitted shirt dresses.

This is until I met Jackie. ASOS have partnered with the iconic 70s Jackie Magazine to create an exclusive 10-piece collection, with original artwork and fashion illustrations from the hit teen title  across logo T-shirts, wide-leg trousers and shift dress silhouettes.
During the 1970s, "Jackie" published a mix of fashion and beauty tips, gossip and short stories. I’m imagining the 'Company magazine' of our generation.

I absolutely love the print and the pretty details on this ASOS x Jackie playsuit teamed with the perfect suede jacket. I’m feeling ever so slightly 70’s inspired. What do you think?
